CHERP (Community Hooked on East River Park) is a group of volunteer advocates engaged in fostering awareness and participation in our neighborhood back yard, East River Park.
Our goal, in cooperation with the Parks Department, is to promote a safe, clean, beautiful green waterfront park for everyone to enjoy.

ONE SUMMER VOLUNTEER DAY LEFT!
Sunday, August 17th from 10am – 2pm
Meet at the East River Park at the Fire Boat House behind the seal spray shower at the food of Grand Street to prune, weed, plant, and compost. It’s your chance to get your hands dirty and help beautify the park by cultivating planting beds and adding compost and mulch to garden areas. EVERYONE IS WELCOME! We have glove and tools available. Please bring a brown bag lunch. No need to sign up, just show up!

ECOLOGY CENTER
September 6 from 5pm - 8pm
Please join the LESEC to celebrate their 21st anniversary on Saturday, September 6 from 5pm - 8pm at the East River Park Amphitheater. Wine, beer, and hors d'oeuvres will be served, special music guests will play, and this year a silent auction (featuring a mac laptop!) will raise funds for this important East River Park organization. There will also be great raffle prizes throughout the evening. The Lower East Side Ecology Center hosts weekly fishing and composting seminars in the summer and is responsible for a large composting program in Manhattan, including the collection at Union Square Market and the 24/7 drop-off site at the garden on 7th Street between Avenue B / C. Tickets to the upcoming event are $50 in advance or $65 at the door, and can be purchased at www.lesecologycenter.org.
